Craig Weller’s Favorite Home Fitness Equipment

Buying fitness equipment for building muscle, burning fat, and getting stronger is often confusing and difficult. With so many options it’s tough to determine what actually works and is best for your individual needs. This article series solves the problem.

Starting today and for the next several days we’ll publish their responses to the question: “If you could recommend only 1 piece of fitness equipment to a client for building muscle and burning fat which would it be and why?” Use the information provided in their answers to learn about different products and how they may or may not be right for your needs.

Today’s answer comes from Craig Weller, founder of Barefoot Fitness. Craig spent six years as a member of a Naval Special Operations Force known as SWCC, the Special Warfare Combatant Crewmen. The lifestyle of Special Operations and the unconventional “Accomplish the Mission By Any Means Necessary” mentality led Craig to develop his unique philosophy of physical training, which, as an instructor, he used to train other Spec Ops Forces on three different continents in highly austere conditions. Craig’s Answer
If you’re limited to only one thing a kettlebell is probably the way to go. Between that and bodyweight exercises there’s not much you can’t do. It’s necessary to get instruction on how to use it first though. There are subtleties to most kettlebell movements that are difficult to grasp inherently as a beginner and they make a big difference in whether the exercise leads to progress or poor quality movement and injury.
